St Brigid’s School with its Catholic foundation and ethos has had a long tradition of being a family school with a Christian, caring environment. In daily school life, we build a strong moral and spiritual framework based on our values as a former Brigidine Convent School, which enables our students to explore, understand and manage the challenges of today’s society. The Brigidine motto, Fortiter et Suaviter challenges students to be “People of Strength, People of Gentleness”. These seemingly opposing virtues are in fact complementary notions of moral courage (fortiter) and consideration of others (suaviter).

Wellbeing and happiness are key to our health, relationships, our ability to perform, to think and to create. We believe that young people achieve their best if they are happy at school. We listen to our students and value their well-being. Our approach encourages a sense of a faith filled, family community, that supports students from Nursery all the way through to our Sixth Form.

Our approach to pastoral care is grounded in love, respect, truth and trust. We aim to create a secure environment full of joy, in which every pupil is known and valued.

A nurturing approach encourages students to gain a sense of their own worth and promotes emotional well-being. We help them to build the courage and resilience required to realise their full potential.

Pupils are always encouraged to speak to our staff when they need support. Our pastoral team is available to help parents and pupils with social and emotional support during their time at our school. At St Brigid’s School, every pupil is known and their happiness and wellbeing is important. That is why our pastoral care is second-to-none.

Health and Relationships

Relationships and Sexuality Education is mandatory for all learners from ages 3 to 16. Focussing on relationships and identity, health, well-being, empowerment, safety and respect.

We take into account the learners age, maturity and learning needs when supporting them.
